Python Coding for Students - Career Mapping:
This course, in collaboration with Bergvliet High School’s Continuous Education Program, introduces students to the exciting world of programming using the Python language. Students will gain a basic understanding of object-oriented programming and enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they learn to design, code, and debug Python programs. We would like to encourage more High School students to take up computer science as a career, so in this course we will help nurture the love for programming and problem solving. The Fourth Industrial Revolution requires more people who are confident, creative, collaborative, and who have design as well as computational thinking skills of the future. Learning computer science and programming encourages creativity, problem-solving, ethics and collaboration. We will have fun learning Python as a programming language while challenging ourselves to think like computer programmers. How remarkable and absolutely amazing is it to create something from the ground up?!

Senior Citizens Program:
With the imminent Fourth Industrial Revolution senior citizens cannot be overlooked, and we want to use our voice and skills to participate in bridging that gap in our community. According to the Pew Research Center, over the past two decades, computer-use among senior adults has doubled– and today, 67 percent of seniors are using the internet. However, despite the growing trend towards a more computer-savvy population, many older adults fall behind younger generations when it comes to technology adoption. So in forming the Level Up Geek Up Academy one of our key focus groups is senior citizens, and we would like to offer a varied number of digital courses to upskill them.
